ANSERS Institute hosting autism specialist Dec. 3-4

The ANSERS Institute welcomes autism consultant, Dr. Sonja de Boer, on Dec. 3-4. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, de Boer will discuss “Teaching Skills Utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis: Providing the Structure Students with ASD Need in Order to Learn New Skills”. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, she will present on “Interventions & Treatments for Children & Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders”. Both discussions will take place at the Brown Lupton University Union beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Dr. de Boer is a noted researcher, speaker, author and consultant on autism and the inclusion of children in the general education classroom who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education, Psychology and Research in Education. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 20 years of experience working in special education, specifically with students with ASD. Dr. de Boer’s focus is on early intervention, creating and applied behavior and inclusive education programs for students with ASD within school districts. Currently, Dr. de Boer owns and operates her own corporation, de Boer Consulting and Training, LLC, which provides training and consultation for students with ASD.

The Alice Neeley Special Education Research and Service (ANSERS) Institute provides an environment for innovation and change in special education through exemplary teaching, creative research, and community outreach. The ANSERS Institute works in conjunction with the TCU laboratory schools and the College of Education to create and coordinate professional development opportunities for local teachers, informational sessions for parents and learning experiences for students interested in becoming special education teachers. ANSERS faculty also conducts research focused on improving academic and social outcomes for students with disabilities in public and private school settings.
