COE launches leadership program, DRIVE

The DRIVE Leadership program is designed to shape today’s student leaders into the next generation of educational and school leaders. DRIVE stands for Developing Responsible, Influential and Visionary Educators. This programs aims to increase personal and interpersonal strengths, talents and resources that will aid students to lead purposefully and meaningfully. The DRIVE program will connect students with leaders throughout the College of Education, TCU and the community. Members will participate in leadership training through the TCU Leadership Center, visit with school directors throughout the community, attend the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce’s State of Education summit and volunteer at various TCU events.

The members of this year’s DRIVE cohort were nominated by their professors to participate in the program. Nomination criteria included strong leadership potential, academic excellence and commitment to teacher education. Six students were selected for the inaugural program. These students are:

Tiffany Charters, senior Early Childhood Education major from Orange County, CA
Annie Duplechain, senior Early Childhood Education major from Lafayette, LA
Elizabeth Ellis, senior and Secondary English major from Chicago, Ill
Rachel Moss, Early Childhood Education major from Richardson, TX
Justin Tubbs, senior English Middle School Education major from Ennis, TX
Jon Turner, junior Secondary School English/Language Arts major from New Boston, TX

Faculty advisors for the program are Dr. Becky Taylor and Dr. Michael Faggella-Luby.
