Students named Fulbright Scholars for 2013-2014

Over the past week, several TCU students have been notified they are recipients of a Fulbright U.S. Student award for 2013-2014:

 

Lyndsey Evans, 22, is a senior International Journalism major from Austin and daughter of David and Karole Byers and David and Marie Evans. A member of the John V. Roach Honors College at TCU, she will be an English language teacher in Thailand.

 

Margaret Fleming, 22, is a senior English/Spanish major and will teach the English language in Mexico. She is the daughter of Ned and Lane Fleming of Dallas.

 

Will Hopper, 22, is a senior in the Neeley School of Business and a member of the John V. Roach Honors College.  He has been invited to teach the English language in Malaysia.

 

Taylor Joyce, 22, a senior Childhood Education major from Overland Park, KS, has been notified he is the recipient of a Fulbright U.S. Student award for 2013-2014.  He will be assigned to teach English language in a South Korean elementary school.

 

Emma Land, 22, is the daughter of Chip and Linda Land of Oklahoma City. She is a Political Science and German major and will teach the English language in Germany.

 

The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Fulbright Program awards approximately 8,000 grants annually. Roughly 1,600 U.S. students, 4,000 foreign students, 1,200 U.S. scholars, and 900 visiting scholars receive awards, in addition to several hundred teachers and professionals.

 

Approximately 310,000 "Fulbrighters" have participated in the Program since its inception in 1946. Currently, the Fulbright Program operates in more than 155 countries worldwide.
