TCU's Gregg Cantrell named 2013 President of Texas State Historical Association

The Texas State Historical Association will hold its Annual Meeting in Fort Worth Feb. 28-Mar. 3. On Feb. 28, the Association will welcome TCU history professor Gregg Cantrell as its 2013 president. In addition the AddRan College of Liberal Arts will bring facsimiles of the Texas Legation Papers to the event (learn more about the Texas Legation Papers at TCU here: http://www.newsevents.tcu.edu/745.asp).


Gregg Cantrell received his PhD from Texas A&M University. His books include Kenneth and John B. Rayner and the Limits of Southern Dissent (University of Illinois Press) andStephen F. Austin, Empresario of Texas (Yale University Press). He is also coeditor of Lone Star Pasts: Memory and History in Texas (Texas A&M University Press) and coauthor of The History of Texas (Harlan Davidson Press). He is vice president of the Texas State Historical Association and a member of the Texas Institute of Letters. He teaches courses in Texas and American history and is currently writing a history of the Texas Populist Party.


The Association has hosted an Annual Meeting each year since 1897 to provide a place not only for scholars to gather and share their research but also for teachers, students and researchers to attend sessions and talk with those working in the various fields of Texas history. In addition to providing a platform for academics to share their research, TSHA's Annual Meeting also provides a valuable resource for K-12 educators.
