The College of Education's English Language Arts/ESL program for future middle & secondary teachers was selected last week to be recognized for its Exemplary Field-Based Instructional Practices by The Quest for Quality Teacher Preparation in Texas (Quest for Quality) project of the Center for Research, Evaluation and Advancement of Teacher Education(CREATE) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The initiative was designed to identify field-based practices that provide opportunities for teacher candidates to (1) experience the relationship of theory to practice in guided, hands-on experiences with students, (2) interact regularly with a variety of stakeholders to reflect on, analyze, and improve practice, and (3) build experiences in the school and its community context.

This project is funded through a grant from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation to the College for All Texans Foundation. The purpose of the Quest for Quality project is to highlight exemplary quality in university-based teacher preparation in Texas.
