TCU News Now receives five Emmy nominations
TCU News Now recently received five nominations in the student categories of the Lone Star Emmy Awards, including a nod for best newscast.

Four of the nominated students graduated in May, including Madison Pelletier, Whitney Gipson, Sneha Antony and David Stein. Senior Landon Haaf also received a nomination.

Pelletier, who served as News Now news director in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, received two nominations. Pelleteir and Haaf were nominated in the best newscast category for the newscast produced the day of a drug bust on campus in February.

Gipson was nominated in the general assignment news story category for her report on a program to prepare minority students for college.

Antony’s moving story on a blind music student at TCU was nominated in the arts and entertainment/cultural affairs category.

Both Stein and Pelletier received nominations for sports coverage. Pelleteir’s report was produced in Colorado Springs, Colo. on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which coincided with the TCU-Air Force football game last year.

Stein’s story was a whimsical look at a superstition surrounding which helmet the football team wears and how that corresponds to the team’s performance.

The winners will be announced at the Emmy Gala Nov. 10 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
