North Texas area students will compete Wednesday, Mar. 7, in the TCU College of Education Regional Spelling Bee with hopes of advancing to the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. The bee will take place from 8:30 to noon on the TCU campus in the Brown-Lupton University Union (2901 Stadium Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76129). The winner will also receive an opportunity to take a TCU audit course in the summer.

Spelling bee contestants have come a long way already: They first had to win at the local level, hosted by 456 North Texas schools, and then went on to win one of 26 area bees. Students competing in this regional spelling bee represent public, private, parochial, charter and home schools located throughout North Texas.

The TCU College of Education Regional Spelling Bee is sponsored by the College of Education's Center for Urban Education and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
