CSIS to tackle U.S. policy options in Iran

TCU's Schieffer School of Journalism and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., will hold a dialogue titled “Iran: U.S. Policy Options” at 4:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, Feb. 23. The dialogue, hosted by Bob Schieffer, CBS News “Face the Nation” and TCU alumnus, will be broadcast live on the Schieffer School website from 4:30-5:30 p.m. CST at http://www.schiefferschool.tcu.edu/csis-live.htm. This dialogue is one of a monthly series hosted by Schieffer to discuss the most pressing foreign and domestic issues of the day.

Featured speakers are General James E. Cartwright, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Harold Brown Chair in Defense Policy Studies, CSIS; Admiral William J. Fallon, U.S. Navy (Ret.), former Commander, U.S. Central Command; and David Sanger, chief Washington correspondent, New York Times, and author of The Inheritance.

The series of monthly dialogues features top public policy experts, government officials, leading think-tank scholars and prominent journalists discussing issues related to national security, foreign policy and global challenges.

CSIS is a bipartisan, independent, nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., that conducts research and analysis and develops policy initiatives that look into the future and anticipate change. The Center provides strategic insights and policy solutions to decision makers in government, international institutions, the private sector and civil society. CSIS was recently named the world’s top security and international affairs think tank in The Global Go To Think Tanks Report, 2011.

The Schieffer School
Named for CBS News Anchor and alumnus Bob Schieffer, the Schieffer School of Journalism at TCU offers majors in journalism and strategic communication and a minor in journalism. The journalism major uses emerging online platforms as well as traditional broadcast and print in its learning outcomes. The strategic communication major uses advertising and public relations tools and approaches to achieve strategic goals for brands and organizations. TCU’s journalism and strategic communication programs were the first for private institutions to be fully accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
