University to test mass notification system, TCU ALERT

Fort Worth, TX March 5, 2013

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 6, TCU will test its mass notification system, known as TCU Alert, as well as the “light page” (a simplified version of www.tcu.edu designed to manage a larger volume of traffic).

These tests are conducted a couple of times each year to ensure the system works properly and that all audiences are comfortable with the system. The test will be sent to all email addresses, cell phones and land lines listed in the system, which pulls data from my.tcu.edu at the same time. Information may be updated until 10 p.m. the evening before the test.

Because the test will simulate what will happen in an emergency situation, all methods will be sent at once, so recipients may receive an email at the same time as they receive a call and text. Recipients should reply “Yes” to confirm receipt through one of the methods, otherwise the recipient will continue to get messages.

The text will come from the number 893-61 and the subject line will read TCU ALERT TEST.

For more information and instructions on how to update recipient
information, visit www.newsevents.tcu.edu/936.asp. For questions about the test, call 1-866-321-7428.
