Kathryn Trimble is a recent addition to the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences staff. The college’s new Career Services Advisor comes to us from Tampa, Fla. Trimble earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis in Sign Language Interpretation and a master’s in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Career Counseling from the University of South Florida.
Previous to TCU, Trimble spent seven years at Hands-On Education, a non-profit based in Tampa that offers career counseling to adults with disabilities. Trimble’s educational background coupled with her work experience made the Career Services Advisor position with Harris College the perfect fit for her, as it seamlessly integrated two of her passions: health and guiding others toward successful careers.
Trimble’s desire to do career advising at a college is only one of the reasons she was led to TCU. Aside from being a highly regarded university in the DFW community, a primary selling point of TCU was the Liaison Program—a unique initiative that places a career advisor in each college. This represented an opportunity for Trimble to do what she does best in the environment dearest to her.
As a career advisor, Trimble’s role will be to help guide the career paths of Harris College students. Career assessments, job search assistance and on-campus interviewing are just a few of the services that Trimble will provide to help pave the way toward successful, fulfilling careers. Harris students are encouraged to utilize Trimble as a resource. Personalized attention from such an experienced professional as Trimble will allow students to see exactly where they fit in the world of health sciences. “There are a lot of really fun and exciting things going on in Career Services, and I hope to be a part of it as long as they’ll have me,” Trimble said.
