The Department of Kinesiology hosted a program for the Texas Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine Oct. 1. Dr. Claude Bouchard presented “Physical Activity Attenuates the Influence of a Genetic Predisposition to Obesity.”
Dr. Bouchard is the John W. Barton Sr. Endowed Chair in Genetics and Nutrition in the Human Genomics Lab of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University.
He has published more than 1,000 manuscripts and is known internationally as a scientist in the areas of exercise science and genomics. His work focuses on the genetics of obesity and its comorbidities, as well as on the genetics of adaptation to regular exercise in terms of cardiovascular and diabetes risk factors.
