Neeley School of Business at TCU chosen for Best Business Schools for Hispanics

Fort Worth, TX

The Neeley School of Business at TCU’s long-term commitment to diversity landed it on Hispanic Business magazine’s 2007 Best Business Schools for Hispanics at the No. 20 spot. The only other Texas college listed is the University of Texas at Austin at No. 2.

“We at Neeley are committed to encouraging a diverse workforce, which begins with diversity in our MBA program,” said Bill Cron, associate dean for graduate programs. “We value diversity not only in race, ethnicity, age, religion and gender, but also in skills, ideas and thoughts. This energizes classroom discussions and promotes new awareness of opportunities, creativity and innovation.”

Neeley offers the Henry B. Gonzalez Scholarship and the National Society of Hispanic MBA Member Scholarship, as well as need-based loans and grants. More than 75 percent of full-time Neeley MBA students receive some sort of scholarship or graduate assistant awards.

Hispanic Business had this to say about the 2007 list, which expanded for the first time from 10 to 20: “While a handful of the schools have been among the top 10 Best Schools for Hispanics since the directory was introduced, 10 universities have joined this year's list, edging out schools such as New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.”

“Finding the right school is intensely personal, and although the process can't be reduced to an equation, certain objective criteria can help,” wrote Hildy Medina in the October issue of Hispanic Magazine. “Most college rankings take into account a school's academic excellence. But the Hispanic Business lists go beyond the straight curriculum questions to look at enrollment by U.S. citizens, faculty, student services and retention rates.”

Neeley MBA graduate ’02 Tomas Puky, commercial manager for VA TECH Hydro USA Corp. in Charlotte, NC, said that Neeley’s “strong focus on communications skills provided via the Center for Professional Communications, the cultural awareness created through programs such as the international lunch bunch and conscious efforts to maintain a diverse student population are strong examples of Neeley’s commitment to keep current with globalization trends.”
