Residence Hall Move-in Information
Fort Worth, TX
7/16/2007
The Campus Commons project is transforming the center of campus to become a more residential and pedestrian-friendly campus. Construction will soon be completed for two of the four residence halls, but the remainder of the Commons is under construction. As you can imagine, this will present some challenges for moving in to the residence halls closest to the center of campus including Colby, Sherley, Waits, Foster, Clark, Milton Daniel, Moncrief and the two new residence halls on the north side of the Commons. This information reflects what we know now about the impact construction will have on move-in. Please read the instructions below and remain patient as all students are anxious to move-in. Also note the Texas heat is excessive this time of year, so please take all precautions to keep cool and hydrated during your move-in.Parking instructions:
- When you arrive on campus, look for the signs directing you to the “holding” parking lot. Cars will be sent to the unloading areas from this lot between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. only.
- Once parked, you will be issued a dashboard-parking tag. This parking tag will allow you to enter the unloading area for each hall. Without it, your car will not be allowed to enter the unloading area.
- TCU staff and volunteers will notify you when to leave the holding lot to go to your hall to unload. We anticipate short wait times, but we ask you to please be patient as you wait for your opportunity to unload.
- You will proceed to the unloading area once space is available and unload your belongings onto the sidewalk or lawn area outside your hall. (Volunteers will be available to assist you between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
- We ask that you please make an effort to use only ONE vehicle during move-in.
Unloading instructions:
- Unload EVERYTHING from your vehicle and place your belongings on the curb by your residence hall.
- TCU volunteers will help unload belongings between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- It is advisable to pack your belongings as if you will have to carry them to your room.
- Once all the items are unloaded, please move the car back to a parking lot as directed by TCU Police.
- Vehicles will not be allowed in the unloading zone for more than 15 minutes. Unaccompanied vehicles violate the FIRE CODE and will be subject to ticketing and towing. Someone from your party must stay with your vehicle in the unloading zone the entire time it is there.
- If you are traveling alone, we will assist you.
If you have questions about this or any other aspect regarding move-in, please contact Residential Services at housing@tcu.edu or 817-257-7865.
We look forward to seeing you. Have a safe trip!
