Hollywood cinematographer will speak on campus Nov. 14

Blake T. Evans, a 1986 Radio-TV-Film graduate of TCU, will spend all day Tuesday, Nov. 14, back on campus, meeting with students and faculty from the College of Fine Arts and the College of Communication to discuss the business of film. In addition to his body of work as a Hollywood cinematographer, Evans is also author of the screenplay of Flyboys, now a major motion picture playing in theaters nationwide.There will be a public Q&A and screening of clips from Evans’ films from 6 to 8 p.m. in rm. 141N of the Moudy Bldg. North, located at 2805 S. University Drive.
A native of Enid, OK, Evans headed for the West Coast after his TCU graduation with aspirations to become a director of photography for film. Early on, he found work helping with student films and producing behind-the-scenes video pieces and received an M.F.A. in cinematography from the American Film Institute in 1989. (The second-year thesis film he photographed was nominated for an Oscar in 1990 for Best Short Film.) Also in 1990, he began working on film crews of various motion pictures and television productions. Most recently, he worked as cinematographer on the TV series The District, Jake in Progress, The Prince & Me 2, The Third Nail and the new series Big Day which will premiere Nov. 28 on ABC-TV. He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the Directors Guild and the Writers Guild.
