Former German ambassador to speak on TCU campus

FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 22, 2006) - Dr. Hans Redlef Arnold, former German ambassador to the United Nations, will speak on campus Monday, October 2. The event is co-sponsored by the TCU departments of modern languages & literatures and political science.

His lecture entitled, “Europe and the United States: Where do we go from here?” is open to the public and will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center, 2820 Stadium Drive.

As a recognized authority on the European Union, Dr. Arnold has published several books on the subject including How Much Unification Does Europe Need? in 2004.

Dr. Arnold was born in Munich, Germany in 1923. He joined the German Foreign Service in 1952 and, in addition to his UN post, has served as ambassador to the Netherlands and Italy. Currently, he is a permanent representative to the United Nations and International Organizations.
