Hundreds of TCU students will roll up their sleeves to paint buildings and sort clothing and food donations April 8 during TCU Leaps, the largest community service project on campus.

Students will be bused to various agencies and community centers, such as the Bethlehem United Community Center and the Alliance for Children, during the event to help the organizations with their needs. The students will assist with the restoration, decoration and landscaping of facilities, as well entertain children in the community.

The TCU Alcohol and Drug Education Center will provide a celebratory “Beaches and Burgers” lunch after the event, and the University Recreation Center will provide water for the participants.

This one-day service event is run by a student committee, and is open to TCU students, faculty, staff and family members. Nearly 700 people were involved in the program in 2005.

Part of TCU’s mission in the community is to make responsible citizens out of its students, and community service projects like TCU Leaps help to instill social responsibility in those students.
