Fort Worth, TX May 17, 2013

Kevin Claunch, an undergraduate biology major doing research with Shauna McGillivray, assistant professor of biology, recently received notice that he received the national American Society for Microbiology Undergraduate Research Fellowship. The fellowship provides $2,000 in fellowship funds, as well as $500 for attendance at the national ASM meeting. “This is really an amazing opportunity for any undergraduate,” said McGillivray.

The ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship (URF) is aimed at highly competitive students who wish to pursue graduate careers in microbiology. Students have the opportunity to conduct full-time research at their home institutions with an ASM member and present research results at the ASM General Meeting the following year.
