Educators and parents of Down syndrome children have been invited to a two-day workshop on teaching mathematics to students with Down syndrome and cognitive disabilities. The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20-21 at the Kelly Center, 2820 Stadium Drive on the TCU campus.
Cost is $25 per person, which includes breakfast, lunch, a book and a DVD. Register by March 8 with Jacqueline D’Angelo at ext. 5884 or at j.n.dangelo@tcu.edu.
Facilitators will be Bernadette Wieser and Anita Hotter from the acclaimed Down Syndrome Center of Leoben, Austria, who have developed a unique curriculum that enables people with Down syndrome to master simple arithmetic through the use of their hands.
