More than 1400 graduated Saturday at TCU’s Spring Commencement

Fort Worth, TX May 12, 2012

TCU bestowed degrees on 1487 students at its spring Commencement, graduating students from 34 states, including Texas, and 32 countries in a formal ceremony held in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Students received their diplomas from Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr.

 

Of the total number of degree candidates, 1,173 received bachelor's degrees (6 will receive double degrees), 256 received master's degrees and 31 received a Ph.D. Of those graduating, 412 students received Latin Honors, including 5 with a 4.0 GPA.
The morning event consisted of 697 candidates receiving degrees from the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, College of Fine Arts, Neeley School of Business and the master of liberal arts graduate program. Chancellor Dr. Victor J. Boschini delivered the Commencement address for both ceremonies. The TCU Commencement Band, under the direction of Bobby R. Francis, Brian Youngblood and Jeremy Strickland, played for both ceremonies. The class of 1962 was in attendance, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation.  Mr. Emmet G. Smith received an honorary degree of Doctor of Music. Mr. Smith has studied organ around the world and returned to TCU to serve as a professor of organ and church music for 45 years, during which time the program gained international recognition.

 

The 790 students who graduated in the afternoon represent College of Communication, College of Education, College of Science & Engineering, and Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Brite Divinity School graduated 27 students.
