Morton House Gallery and the KinderFrogs School at TCU have joined together for the second annual “Art from the Heart” from now until Friday, Feb. 10, 2006. The "Art from the Heart" entries will be displayed and divided by age and the artwork can be purchased using a combination of standard pricing and silent auction bid sheets. Submitted artwork will be displayed for public viewing at the Morton House, located at 3009 Morton Street. Morton House is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
This children’s art show and contest brings students Pre-K to middle school together for a distinctive fundraising, art-appreciation and diversity project that will directly benefit the KinderFrogs School and its mission
Morton House, open since 2003, offers a selection of some of Fort Worth's finest artists in a variety of mediums, including original oils and acrylics, pottery, glass art and custom wood furniture.
Trudy Bryant, co-owner of Morton House, said they partnered with KinderFrogs “to provide a professional venue for young, up and coming artists.”
A final presentation of the winners and other selected artwork will be displayed at the KinderFrogs School Valentine’s dinner “Caribbean Nights – A Beat of the Heart” on Sat., Feb. 11, 2006. This event is sponsored by the KinderFrogs Parent Association.
Marilyn Tolbert, director of the KinderFrogs School, said, “The entire school is looking forward to this event that not only provides an opportunity to drive young artists, but will directly benefit our school’s little creative minds.”
KinderFrogs School is an early childhood educational center for children with Down syndrome and a small number of typically developing children. TCU faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality of early childhood educational services to benefit both the university and the community. This program also serves as an on-campus training facility for TCU students in the School of Education and other university programs.
Seventy percent of the children enrolled in KinderFrogs School receive financial assistance, and this event will directly help fund tuition for these students as well as provide an opportunity to make the school visible to other families in the community.
“We want to continue to grow be an asset to families of children with Down syndrome as well as the community at large,” says Tolbert.
