CEO of Associated Press to speak at Tandy Executive Speaker Series March 31

Tom Curley, president and CEO of the Associated Press will join Dean Homer Erekson on stage for the Tandy Executive Speaker Series, Wednesday, March 31, 7:30-9 a.m., on the TCU campus.

Curley’s presentation will take place in TCU’s Brown-Lupton University Union, 3rd floor ballroom, 2901 Stadium Drive. Visitor parking is across Stadium Drive in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center lot. Visitor parking is limited, so plan to arrive on time and/or carpool. Tickets are $20 each, which includes breakfast. Register at www.tess.tcu.edu.

Curley was named president and CEO of AP in 2003. Under his leadership AP is moving to capture the growing audience for digital and video news and assure AP’s relevance in the rapidly changing media world. Curley also has deepened AP’s commitment to the people’s right to know and serves as one of the nation’s most aggressive advocates for open government.

As part of his strategy for the digital age, Curley has charted an international plan to drive content and new business. A first milestone was the creation of a multimedia database that allows all AP content to be searched by AP journalists and customers alike. AP has added content for finance, on-line video and entertainment audiences.

Curley previously was president and publisher of USA Today, and senior vice president of the newspaper’s owner, Gannett Co. Inc. He received the William Allen White Foundation’s national citation for outstanding journalism service in 2009.
