Green Honors Chair for Mathematics to lecture on campus next week

Dr. John C. Baez from the University of California, will be at TCU from Sept. 8-10 as Green Honors Chair Professor for the Dept. of Mathematics.At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Palko Hall, room 130 on the University campus, he will deliver a public lecture “Zooming out in time: A history of climate change.” He also will speak in the Tucker Technology Center, room 139, at the following times:
Sept. 8 - 1 p.m. Topic: “My favorite numbers: 5”
Sept. 9 - 1 p.m. Topic: “My favorite numbers:8”
4 p.m. Topic: “Fundamental physics: where we stand today”
Sept. 10 - 1 p.m. Topic: “My favorite numbers: 24”
Professor Baez did his undergraduate work at Princeton University and received a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1986. He is famous for his popular Web site, John Baez's Stuff, where he regularly discusses many of the latest and most interesting developments in mathematics and mathematical physics. He is a popular speaker, the author of several books and many research papers.

The Green Honors Chair program, established by the late Drs. Cecil H. and Ida Green of Dallas, brings a number of prominent scholars to campus each year.
