Fort Worth, TX

Wednesday afternoon was special for nine-year-old Jonathan Walder, who got to be a guest DJ at KTCU FM 88.7. Jonathon, who attends the Starpoint School on the TCU campus, introduced songs, talked sports and skateboarding and, of course, dedicated a song to his teacher Ms. Madge Thomas!Jonathan’s mom, Linda, even got into the act, dedicating a song to her husband!
For the third consecutive year, KTCU donated the KTCU DJ for a Day prize to the Starpoint gala and auction, held in April. The annual event raises funds for the highly acclaimed laboratory school.
“I was approached a couple of years ago and invited to get involved by one of the Starpoint parents,” said KTCU Station Manager Russell Scott. “After you meet the students and parents, it is easy to see there’s something very special happening at Starpoint and we’re honored to be able to help. Plus Jonathon was a delight to have in the studio, and who knows, he may just be the next Kidd Kraddick or Joe Buck!”
KTCU FM 88.7 is the student radio station at TCU, which operates under the Film/TV/Digital Media Department. The station is on the air from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.
