Authority on Chinese economy to speak at TCU

Dr. Barry Naughton, will speak at TCU as a Green Honors Chair lecturer. His lecture, “China Succeeding: Who Does the Chinese Development Model Challenge?” is on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in Palko Hall, room 130. Dr. Naughton is an authority on the Chinese economy with an emphasis on issues relating to industry, trade and finance. He is the So Kuanlok Professor of Chinese and International Affairs at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies of the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Naughton publishes a quarterly analysis of China’s economic policy online for the China Leadership Monitor. His most recent book is The Chinese Economy: Transitions and Growth, a comprehensive survey of the Chinese economy that was published by MIT Press in 2007.Dr. Naughton’s lecture will be followed by coffee and dessert and he will sign his books, which will be available for purchase.
