Six scholarships will be announced at the 2009 TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, February 9

The Neeley School of Business at TCU has chosen 21 Texas high school entrepreneurs take part in TCU Young Entrepreneur Days, February 8-9, 2009, for their success in starting and running their own businesses. All will be recognized at the 7th annual TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Banquet, February 9, 5:30 pm, at the Brown Lupton University Union.This year’s group of 16 seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and one freshman run businesses ranging from concert venues to web design to outdoor catering.
The Neeley Entrepreneurship Center’s annual scholarship competition rewards Texas’ most impressive high school entrepreneurs. For two days on campus, the 21 finalists will consult with successful entrepreneurs, learn about the Neeley School’s award-winning entrepreneurship program and experience college life. The students will be interviewed by a panel of judges who select the six award recipients. The Grand Award winner receives a $5,000 scholarship. The other five award winners receive $1,000 scholarships each. All scholarships are doubled for those who attend TCU. Scholarships are funded by Compass Bank.
“Entrepreneurship is a vital force to the economy, so we want to support these students and help them realize their dreams of independent success as they go on to college to hone their business skills and broaden their knowledge and impact,” said Brad Hancock, director of the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center.
