Natural gas drilling update
Fort Worth, TX
1/16/2009
Today, Chesapeake Energy Corporation announced that after more than a year of planning and meeting with the Mayor, City Council members, TCU and multiple neighborhood associations, a master development plan has been created that could successfully develop TCU’s minerals from off-campus drill sites. Such a plan would eliminate the need to utilize TCU’s remote parking lot, located north of the stadium, as a drill site. In addition, this plan would alleviate the need for truck routes and pipelines through residential neighborhoods and potentially allow Chesapeake to produce the minerals of other neighborhoods and local organizations such as the Fort Worth Zoo and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, from drill sites within the proposed minerals development plan. This news is very positive because it enables the Chesapeake to set forth a comprehensive plan that is collaborative and produces the mineral resources of many landowners with minimal disruption to neighborhoods.
