Don’t think you have time to go back to school? Think again. TCU’s innovative national program offers online courses to make it convenient to obtain your nursing degree while you work. You’ll get closer to your MSN without the hassles of traffic and parking. We offer flexible degree plans, tuition assistance, and even an online library. The key to your future in nursing comes down to one instrument - a computer.

Why Choose TCU Nursing? All didactic course work is online, eliminating the commute to class, traffic hassle, and parking permit purchase. All clinical practicum courses are precepted close to your home, if possible, or in concentrated experiences near TCU. The program is designed for the nurse who works full time. The only on-campus requirement is a one-day orientation prior to starting the program. In addition to a tuition discount, our Financial Aid office offers many scholarships and loans.

This innovative program has two majors: Nursing Education and Clinical Nurse Specialist in adult or pediatrics.

Nursing Education - The nurse educator’s three roles are teacher, scholar and collaborator. As part of the teacher role, nurse educators assume leadership in curriculum, instruction and evaluation. Nurse educators are responsible for the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application and integration. Collaboration — with peers, students and administrators as well as with groups and communities — is essential to the full expression of the nurse educator role.

Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) are licensed registered nurses who have graduate preparation (master’s or doctorate) in nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Clinical Nurse Specialists are expert clinicians in a specialized area of nursing practice. Clinical Nurse Specialists practice in a wide variety of health care settings. In addition to providing direct patient care, Clinical Nurse Specialists influence care outcomes by providing expert consultation for nursing staffs and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

How do I get started? Admission is competitive and seeks excellence. Ideal applicants will demonstrate academic achievement and the potential for professional leadership. These qualities are assessed through evidence submitted in an application portfolio. An individualized approach will be used to identify applicants; there is no single formula.
