Fort Worth, TX

9/15/2008

The Center for Civic Literacy at TCU invites the public to attend a Constitution Day celebration featuring key presenter Jeffery Richard on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center, Cox rooms. Richard, a TCU alumnus and president of the Austin Area Urban League, will be discussing the issue of racism within the background of American constitutional development in his presentation titled, “Racism and the Constitution: Then and Now.”  As a recipient of federal funds, the University is required to celebrate the anniversary of the Founding Fathers signing the draft of the Constitution in 1787.  The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the TCU Center for Civic Literacy at 817-257-5004 or www.civlit.tcu.edu.

Students will be encouraged to register to vote through the Vote Smart, Vote Purple campaign at the event.
