National aging expert to speak at TCU Oct. 11

TCU's Center for Healthy Aging and Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences are hosting a seminar on "Understanding the Older Adult: A Holistic Approach to Care" on Thursday, October 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The symposium, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Janice Knebl, will be held on the TCU campus in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center, 2820 Stadium Drive. Cost to attend is $30 and includes lunch. CNE credits are available to nurses and social workers. Dr. Knebl, a nationally recognized researcher in aging and geriatric care, will focus on the special needs of older adults including symptom recognition, assessment, diagnosis and individualized care. The seminar will also offer a panel discussion with topics including: medical needs, legal and financial issues, spiritual and community-based needs, and social support for older adults. Other seminar presenters include nursing and elder care professionals.
