TCU student entrepreneurs honored by Neeley Entrepreneurship Center

The Neeley Entrepreneurship Center at TCU honored three undergraduate student entrepreneurs with cash prizes in the 2007 Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year contest.

First place ($1,000) went to Adam Blake, owner of Blake Venture Corp, a full service real estate company that specializes in buying, selling, managing, and leasing a diversified portfolio of residential and commercial investment properties. Blake is a senior entrepreneurial major at TCU’s Neeley School of Business. He has been featured in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth Business Press and Fortune Small Biz. Blake won the Global Student Entrepreneur Award in 2005.

Second place ($500) went to freshman Austin Hoffman, founder of guerillagaragesales.com and Coleto Collectibles, an Internet retailer that buys merchandise from garage sales, auctions and estates and re-sells online on eBay and other websites. He has written and published a book, Guerilla Garage Sales, Boot Camp for the Beginner – As Told by a Global Tactical Guerilla Specialist. Hoffman was one of six winners in the TCU Texas High School Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006, which earned him a scholarship that was doubled when he came to TCU.

Third place ($300) went to Michael McKenzie, owner of The McKenzie Group, a technology consulting company providing services to residential and small businesses. It is also the parent company of several other ventures, including a full service DJ company, internet sales division and a custom internet hosting division.
