TCU celebrated 2nd annual 'Frogs for a Cure' event
Fort Worth, TX
11/10/2006
Saturday, November 18, TCU dedicated the game against San Diego State University to helping the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation fight breast cancer and salute survivors. To encourage early detection, 10,000 free clinical breast exam coupons and free breast self-exam cards were handed out to the crowd courtesy of game sponsor, The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Festivities began at 12:30 p.m. with a “Pink Out Party” featuring a free hamburger lunch for breast cancer survivors and their immediate family members in Frog Alley. Survivors were celebrated with a free ticket to the game, a gift, and participation in the pre-game on-field spirit line.
Supporters wore pink to “pink out” the stadium in a show of solidarity with breast cancer survivors and to draw attention to the fight against breast cancer. A portion of the proceeds from designated game ticket, tee shirt, and merchandise sales will be donated to the Tarrant County Affiliate of the Komen Foundation.
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 214,640 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year in the U.S. in both women and men.
