Chamber music event set for Nov. 13

The TCU School of Music presents Opus Americas: Copland, Contemporaries and Disciples as the second event in this year's "Faculty and Friends” Chamber Music Series. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 in PepsiCo Recital Hall. General admission is $10 at the door, $5 for students and seniors, free for those with a TCU ID.
Jesús Castro-Balbi, artistic director of the series, has invited the Dallas-based Clavier Trio and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra pianist Shield-Collins Bray to perform, as well as distinguished TCU colleagues Karen Adrian (flute), Richard Estes (voice), Misha Galaganov (viola and double bass), Janet Pummill (piano) and Gary Whitman (clarinet). Cellist Castro-Balbi will also take the stage.
The program will include Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs; Lowell Liebermann’s Piano Quintet, Op. 34; Osvaldo Golijob’s Lullaby and Doina; and Astor Piazzolla’s Contrabassimo.

This is the second of the year's four concerts, featuring talented world-class artists from the TCU School of Music faculty joining their friends in chamber music. Others are scheduled for Feb. 19 and April 23.
