Brite Divinity School hosting Black Preaching Forum

Brite Divinity School at TCU will host the second annual “Preaching with Power: An Interdenominational Forum on Black Preaching” Oct. 15-17 at two city churches and on the TCU campus. The event is sponsored by Brite Divinity School’s Black Church Studies Program, under the direction of Dr. Stacey Floyd-Thomas.
   
The schedule:
  • Sunday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2823 N. Houston Street — featuring the Rev. Stephen John Thurston, president of the National Baptist Convention of America Inc. (NBCA).
  • Monday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at Carter Metropolitan CME Church, 4601 Wichita Street — featuring the Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, a former professor of Old Testament at Spelman College in Atlanta and Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. at Robert Carr Chapel at TCU — featuring the Rev. Dr. Frank A. Thomas, senior pastor of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, TN.
All of the worship services are free and open to the public. Offerings and donations will go to support scholarships and programming for seminarians enrolled in the Black Church Studies Program at Brite Divinity School.
