More than 800 graduate in Fall commencement ceremony

TCU bestowed degrees on 834 students at its Fall Commencement, graduating students from 33 states, including Texas, and 31 foreign countries in a formal ceremony held in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Students received their diplomas from Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr.
Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. delivered the commencement address. Besides those receiving bachelor’s degrees, there were 18 master’s degree candidates, 38 doctoral candidates and 21 Brite Divinity School graduate candidates. One hundred twenty three graduated with Latin Honors: 55 cum laude, 52 magna cum laude and 16 summa cum laude. Four students graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA and 24 students received double degrees.
The university also recognized professors for their outstanding teaching and quality research or creativity. Nominees for the Deans’ Creativity or Research Award include Dr. Manochehr Dorraj, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Theresa Strouth Gaul, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Eric Yorkston, M.J. Neeley School of Business; Dr. Daxton R. Stewart, College of Communication; Mr. Alan Shorter, College of Fine Arts; Dr. Jennifer Watson, Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences; and Dr. Sergei V. Dzyuba, College of Science & Engineering. Nominees for the Deans’ Teaching Award include Dr. Eric Cox, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. David Grant, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Robert Vigeland, M.J. Neeley School of Business; Dr. Amber Finn, College of Communication; Dr. Fran Huckaby, College of Education; Mr. J. David Brock, College of Fine Arts; Dr. David Jenkins, Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences; Dr. Douglas Ingram, College of Science & Engineering.
The University conferred an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree on Larry Brogden, a founding partner in Four Sevens Oil Company and 30-plus year veteran of the energy. He has been instrumental in the growth and success of the TCU Energy Institute.
