Equestrian Program To Send Care Packages Overseas

With Veterans Day Friday, the TCU equestrian program recently got into the holiday spirit by creating care packages to send TCU alumni and soldiers currently serving overseas.

The packages, which are called Frog Boxes, are being sent to soldiers during the upcoming holiday season. In addition, Nocona and Justin Boots recently donated two pairs of TCU boots that were auctioned off with all the proceeds going directly towards the cost of shipping the packages.

"The holiday season is often a difficult time and we want our military to know we appreciate their service," said junior Victoria Giachino, who was incredibly instrumental in leading this project. "The auction donation was highly successful and allowed us to send 32 boxes overseas this holiday season, which is terrific."

The Frog Boxes, which have been completely organized and planned by the Horned Frog equestrian squad since October, gives student-athletes a chance to let service members know that they are being cared for and are appreciated. The care packages include items such as snacks, hygienic products, puzzles/games, instant meals and other products. Each box will also have a letter from the TCU equestrian program expressing their appreciation, service and duty for our country.

"I am so proud of this team for committing to this cause," said Hunt Seat head coach Logan Fiorentino. "They decided that this was something that they wanted to do for the troops overseas and they came up with a way to make it happen. As a coach, it is incredible to see these young ladies so committed and dedicated to helping make someone else's holiday season better. I believe that this philanthropy project is a reflection of the character of this team and of TCU."

The Horned Frogs will have a few months off before taking on Texas A&M at the Fort Worth Stock Show on Feb. 3.
