TCU music ensembles to “take Manhattan” this week

Nearly 100 TCU School of Music students and faculty traveled to New York City to perform at legendary Carnegie Hall and nearby Merkin Concert Hall. Fortunately, the hometown crowd didn't have to miss out since the TCU Wind Symphony and Percussion Orchestra previewed their programs at free concerts on campus. The schedule:
The groups will depart by air for several days of rehearsals and sightseeing in Manhattan. (Their instruments were sent ahead by truck). The students will also attend a Broadway show and a performance by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Music faculty members making the trip include Bobby Francis, Brian West, Curt Wilson, Brian Youngblood and Jeremy Strickland.
Schedule for the NYC performances:
Wednesday, Feb. 23 – 8 p.m.
Percussion Ensemble performs in Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center
Thursday, Feb. 24 – 8 p.m.
Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble, along with guest artists American Brass Quintet, will perform at Stern Auditorium, Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.
