TCU's Schieffer School of Journalism earns Ad Club Dateline Award
Fort Worth, TX
2/10/2006
The Advertising Club of Fort Worth has selected the TCU Schieffer School of Journalism to receive its annual Dateline Award. The award will be given to the Schieffer School at a luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Joe T. Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant.
The Ad Club has presented the Dateline Award each year since 1958 in recognition of recipients who have brought the most positive publicity and attention to Fort Worth and/or Tarrant County for the year. Previous winners include the Tandy Corporation, the Bass brothers, Pier 1 Imports, Texas Motor Speedway and the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art.
TCU garnered national publicity when it named its journalism department after 1959 TCU graduate and chief Washington correspondent for CBS News Bob Schieffer. Linking the school to one of the premier broadcast journalists in the country paves the way for the program to be not only one of the nation’s most elite programs, but also one of the outstanding journalism schools in the world.
Cost to attend the Dateline Award luncheon is $20 for Ad Club members with a reservation, $25 for Ad Club members without a reservation, $30 for guests and $15 for students.
