Fort Worth, TX

TCU’s Film, Television, Digital Media Department (FTDM) is hosting a screening of the documentary Carpet Racers: A Crash Course on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Movie Tavern on West 7th Street in Fort Worth. The films director, Jay Thames, is a TCU graduate and will be available for a question and answer session following the screening.
Carpet Racers: A Crash Course is a feature-length documentary exploring the subculture of professional, competitive radio control race car drivers and is the first public event being funded by FTDM’s newly established AXA Endowed Fund. This unique fund, made possible by the generosity of TCU parents EvMarie and Jeff Angelovich, was created specifically to enhance and enrich the educational experience of FTDM students by subsidizing workshops, screenings, and lectures conducted by successful industry professionals including TCU alumni. Jay Thames’ documentary Carpet Racers is the first event to include a regional movie premiere and Q&A with the director.
The film is the directorial debut of Jay Thames (Automatic, Yesterday Was A Lie) and is executive produced by Michael Rooney (The Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club, Automatic). Jonathan Walls (Playing For Change) and Oliver Noble served as editors of the film, which took more than 16 months to cut into a feature film. More information about the film and the world of carpet racing can be found at the Web site: www.carpetracers.com.
