Neeley School of Business at TCU honors 24 Texas high school students for entrepreneurial businesses

Fort Worth, TX

1/19/2010

The Neeley School of Business at TCU has chosen 24 high school entrepreneurs as finalists for the TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards scholarship, out of a field of 80 applicants from high schools across the state. In addition, 29 students received Honorable Mention certificates. For the complete list, click here.

The 24 finalists will participate in TCU Young Entrepreneur Days on campus, February 21-22, 2010, where they will consult with successful entrepreneurs, learn about TCU’s award-winning entrepreneurship program and experience college life. The students will be interviewed by a panel of judges who select the six award recipients. The Grand Award winner receives a $5,000 scholarship, and five winners receive $1,000 scholarships. The scholarships are doubled for those who attend TCU. The awards banquet will take place February 22, 5:30 pm, at the Brown-Lupton University Union.

The Neeley School of Business has been named in the Top 25 Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs by Fortune Small Business (September 2008), and ranked No. 18 in the nation for Best Undergraduate Business Specialties: Entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report (August 2009). Since its inception in 2002, the TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year program has attracted hundreds of students to TCU, allowing them to hone their business skills and broaden their knowledge and impact. Several graduates have been featured in local and national media for their ongoing success.

David Minor, entrepreneur in residence at the Neeley School of Business and the founder of the TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year program, said, “The Neeley Entrepreneurship Center honors the entrepreneurial spirit in Texas youths because we know what a vital force entrepreneurship is to the economy, and what it means to these students to realize their dreams of independent success.”
