Communication Studies earns top rankings for research

TCU”s Department of Communication Studies was ranked No. 1 nationally for total research productivity in four of the most important topic areas related to the study of communication: public speaking, interpersonal communication competence, communication and emotion, and communication and stress.
These rankings are published in Communication Abstracts, a comprehensive, online database of first line research that includes over a hundred of the nation’s most prestigious academic journals related to the study of communication. A new service (ComVista) compares the total research productivity of departments and schools of communication, mass communication, and journalism.
The Department of Communication Studies was also listed among the top 10 programs in the nation in over a dozen other areas, often besting many of the countries top doctoral programs such as those at the University of Texas, Penn State, Purdue, and Northwestern. The Department is also among the top 10 nationally in the following research areas: family communication, communication and cognition, and communication methodology.
