Green Honors Chair for Communication Studies to lecture on campus
Fort Worth, TX
9/22/2009
TCU’s Department of Communication Studies will welcome Green Honors Chair Katherine Miller to campus Oct. 19 – 22. Miller will give a public lecture on Communication and Care: Tensions in Professional and Personal Life on Monday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. in TCU’s J.M. Moudy Building, room 141N.
Miller’s presentation will consider some of the dilemmas of communication and care at the end of life by considering three distinct, yet highly interdependent, points of view - the patient’s, the health professional’s, and the family caregiver’s. In considering all of these, Miller will draw on the larger literature on end-of-life care and communication, on her research programs exploring compassionate communication, family caregiving, and communication in hospice and long-term-care settings, and on her experiences as a family caregiver who has observed the processes of aging, family interaction, and managed health care at very close range.
This lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, e-mail Cara Jacocks at c.jacocks@tcu.edu.
