Schieffer School publications receive regional SPJ awards

TCU's The Daily Skiff newspaper, DailySkiff.com Web site and Image magazine have been named the best publications in their categories among Texas and Oklahoma student publications by the Society of Professional Journalists.

Each of the publications received first place 2008 Mark of Excellence awards at the Region 8 SPJ Conference for student and professional journalists on Saturday, March 21 in Fort Worth. The Daily Skiff was ranked best in the daily newspaper category for newspapers published at least four times a week, DailySkiff.com was named the top affiliated Web site, and Image was recognized as best student magazine for the fourth consecutive year.

Four student journalists also won or shared four individual first place awards, and the top winners will compete with winners from the other 11 SPJ regions for national honors at this fall’s SPJ convention in Indianapolis.
