Joshua Allen, the Fort Worth native who won last summer’s “So You Think You Can Dance” Season Four competition on live television, visited TCU March 9 to teach a 90-minute hip-hop class to dance students in the School of Classical & Contemporary Dance.
A graduate of North Crowley High School, Allen was 19 when he won the contest and walked away with $250,000 for his efforts. He is the show’s youngest winner to date.
While on the show Joshua showed his versatility by dancing hip-hop, Broadway, samba, contemporary, West Coast swing, Viennese waltz, rumba, Argentine tango, disco, lyrical jazz, and jive. He also performed the first Bollywood dance and Trepak seen on the popular TV show.
Joshua was consistently praised for his innate ability to adapt to the diverse range of dance styles assigned to him throughout the season despite having little prior formal training.
He turns 20 this week.
