TCU’s Schieffer School student magazine Image wins three national awards

TCU’s Schieffer School Image magazine’s editor and photographer have received three national awards, including a first-place design award, for their work with the magazine.
Ky Lewis, the 2007-08 editor in chief, has won first place in magazine feature spreads in the 16th annual Best of Collegiate Design sponsored by College Media Advisers. The results were published at the 2008 CMA/Associated Collegiate Press national convention held in Kansas City, Mo., Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
Lewis, a spring 2008 graduate, also won fourth place in the informational graphic category for all publications. The 2000 Best of Collegiate Design competition received more than 1,000 entries nationwide for its 23 categories and was judged by photographers, page designers and graphic designers from the Austin American-Statesman, Birmingham News, Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News, Chicago Tribune and FOX Interactive Media.
Current Image design chief Ronald Villegas, last year’s photography editor, has won third place in the Associated Collegiate Press’s environmental portrait category of its Photo Excellence Award competition. ACP awards were announced Nov. 2 at the national convention in Kansas City. The nearly 800 entries were judged by members of the National Press Photographers’ Association.
Image magazine was a national finalist or first place winner the past three years in the best college magazine category of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards competition.
