TCU’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team took 3rd runner-up, as the wildcard entry, at the national convention of American Advertising Federation (AAF) held in Atlanta, Georgia. TCU’s Advertising Campaigns team was selected for the wildcard spot in the NSAC after taking second place in the district level competition at the District 10 convention, one of the largest districts in the nation, in Dallas on April 17.
The winner of this year’s competition was Ohio University, with 1st runner up going to Art Center Design of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 2nd runner up going to the University of Virginia, and the 3rd runner up going to the local team from TCU. At the NSAC, TCU’s Advertising Campaigns team competed against 16 other teams and 15 of the original 17-member team participated.
Each year, the AAF teams up with a corporate sponsor and students are asked to research the product and its competition, identify potential problem areas and devise a completely integrated communications campaign for the client. This year, students researched, prepared and pitched a campaign for the 2008 NSAC client, AOL Instant Messenger.
