Lunar eclipse watching event on campus

TCU is hosting a public lecture and lunar eclipse-watching event on campus Wednesday, Feb. 20. The lecture, given by Dr. Doug Ingram, professor of physics and astronomy, will begin in Sid Richardson Lecture Hall 2 at 7 p.m. Guests may then begin viewing the eclipse through telescopes and binoculars in the courtyard in front of the Mary Couts Burnett Library at 8 p.m. The moon will begin to darken at 8 p.m. and will be completely eclipsed by 9 p.m. The total eclipse will last until approximately 9:45 p.m. Guests can expect to see Mars and Saturn, as well as the star Regulus (which is the heart of the constellation Leo), and the constellations of the Winter Circle.   
 
In case of inclement weather, guests may attend a second lecture in the Sid Richardson lecture hall 2 from 8 – 10 p.m. with a narrated slide show about the objects and constellations currently in the sky.

The Monnig Meteorite Gallery will be open to the public during special hours that evening, from 7-10pm.
